Forget about fossil fuels, coal, hydroelectricity, and nuclear power plants. There is a gigantic natural fusion reactor “just” 150 million kilometers from out planet which constantly radiates light and heat which make it possible for life to exist on our planet. I am, of course, talking about the closest star to our planet – the sun. It has been there, doing the same job for about 5 billion years, just waiting for us to harvest its clean and virtually inexhaustible energy. Although humanity has been using the sun in many different ways for thousands of years, it was only recently that we learned how to convert sunlight into electricity. We can do that either by focusing sunlight using mirrors and lenses into a concentrated beam that can be used to heat up a boiler and use the steam to run turbines that generate electric power, or we can turn sunlight directly into electricity using solar cells.

The first solar cell was constructed in the late 1800s and the earliest notable application was on Vanguard I, an American satellite launched in 1958. Since then, solar cells have become the main power source for all satellites.

This technology is now available for everyone and it is used for everything from watches and calculators to houses, commercial buildings and even whole stadiums. But currently, solar cells are not efficient enough to completely replace all the other sources of electricity. We can, however, use solar cells as an addition to our conventional source of power. A perfect example for that are led solar lights outdoor intended. Led solar lights are now available in a wide range of styles, colours, designs, and prices.

Using solar powered outdoor lighting comes with many benefits. First of all, they obviously don’t require a main outlet to power them. These lights have small solar panels that charge the battery using sunlight. Most of them store enough electrical charge during the day that can provide lighting throughout the night. Since they don’t depend on cables and outlets, you can basically install them anywhere you want and you will have illumination even in the case of a power outage. Also, led solar lights outdoor aimed are cost effective. They are cheaper to purchase than most conventional outdoor lights, they are easy to install which means no installation fees, and finally the do not add to your electricity bills. And of course, solar power is environmentally friendly. They are an excellent way to reduce the carbon footprint on the environment. They power up through the day and run on stored energy for the rest of the night which means there is no additional energy consumption.
